It's good to talk.
I had a great day yesterday meeting up with old friends and talking theatre. Firstly I caught up with theatre director and actor Samuel Harjanne @ The Hospital Club, Covent Garden. He is in pre-production at the moment with “Les Miserables” Estonia. Then I was off to Complicite HQ, to re-unite with Poppy Keeling and the original cast of “Like Mother, Like Daughter”. It was so good to see everyone and hear what they were all up to. In particular it was great to hear from the beautiful Dina Mousawi. The last time I saw her she was about to embark upon her project “Terrestrial Journeys” in Lebanon, working with refugee women from Syria. It was fascinating hearing about some of the political and social barriers she had to negotiate in order to produce the work and how empowering it was to the women and their families to allow their stories to be told. She is about to publish a book about the work including recipes and stories from the women.
Complicite’s new work, “A Pacifist’s Guide to the War on Cancer,” will be on at The National Theatre 19th October – 29th November 2016. I would also like to take the opportunity to wish Dodi Finamore all the best for her run at the Edinburgh Fringe next month.
